14-year-old JAQUAN is a talented artist living with his father LENNOX in the rough East Port of Spain area. But Jaquan has a disturbing secret — a monster that often stalks his dreams and now consumes his art. It breaks Lennox's heart to medicate his son, but he wants to prevent the boy's fear and suffering.

 

On his way to an art session, Jaquan encounters a gang who tease and scare him. Acting on orders from a higher-up, the leader, WIFE-BEATER, focuses their attention on a passing car allowing Jaquan to escape.

Jaquan sketches till sundown and has to run home. As he's about to turn the corner, he's cut down in a sudden hail of bullets from SLIPPERS, the youngest gang member. who was intrigued by the artwork.  Slippers snatches a sheet with the drawing and returns to his gang in disgrace.

While they're hiding out at a junkyard that night, Wife-beater threatens Slippers for costing them their payday by missing the real target — the man in the car. Slippers is terrified, but not as scared as he's going to be when Jaquan's monster comes looking for them...
