When 13-year-old SAMUEL QUASHIE frees a trapped baby goat that follows him home and refuses to leave, his father WINSTON is displeased with both the goat and Sam’s early return from market with hardly any sales.

Sam spirits the goat away from becoming Sunday lunch and names it "Curry" as a reminder of the close call. He enlists his mother JOYCELYN in keeping the animal a secret from Winston, who appears to harbour a personal dislike for any goat that isn't in a pot.

​

Intrigued by the neighbourhood boys who train goats for racing, Sam decided to join them. At first, they make fun of him because Curry hates the leash, and Sam isn't exactly swift enough to keep up with the goat. But Sam persists, and eventually Curry proves her mettle by beating the other goats in a friendly run on the beach.

 

But Winston sees Curry and Sam training and is furious that this is where his hard-earned money is going. He demands that Sam come help him work the party boat when Sam isn't in school.

 

Now Sam is forced to choose between Curry and Winston, with the added issue that if he chooses wrong, Curry could actually end up in one.
