A Trini Cookup
Maroons

In a near-future Earth that has been ravaged by the unchecked effects of climate change. Most of the current world's coastlines have been destroyed, small, low-lying island states submerged, and entire populations decimated.
After the last in a succession of Category 5 hurricanes destroys their homestead in the mountains of the Northern Range, Indigenous Trinidadian forest warden Every Wonder and his only remaining daughter head into the South American hinterland seeking a new home far from the rising ocean and its continued destruction.

Leading a motley caravan of survivors escaping the islands, the Wonders battle the elements and wild animals in search of the new El Dorado — a mythical land passed down through stories from Every's South American great-grandparents—where a hybrid Indigenous-Afro civilization has continued to flourish far out of the reach of western culture.

However, the Wonders soon discover that the deadliest enemy is not the weather, but some of the their fellow Maroons. And after Every is attacked and left for dead, his daughter must throw his attackers off the trail, rescue him, and lead the remainder of the caravan to safety before the next hurricane hits.
